FAQs

Would you like to share a knitting pattern on my website?

If you have an old knitting pattern than you would like to share on my website, drop me an email from the contact page and I will send you my email address.  Unfortunately publishing my email address on the website generates an enormous amount of spam.

I am located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.  If you are in this region I would be happy to collect any unwanted patterns.

How do I place an Order?

Add the required pattern to your basket, proceed to checkout and complete your order using PayPal.  When you purchase any of our patterns, you make secure payment via Paypal, using your credit or debit card or your Paypal account balance.  Once we have confirmed receipt of they payment you will receive an email containing a link that will enable you to download the pattern from our website. The pattern will be in adobe .pdf format.

Can I create a Vintage Knitters Account?

Yes, you can create a Vintage Knitters account at Checkout when you make a purchase.

Will I receive the original pattern?

No,  all original patterns are held by Vintage Knitters.  Some of our patterns are in very poor condition and have been retyped or cleaned up in order to make them legible. We make every effort to ensure the pattern is legible but some printers do not render well.  If you should find your pattern difficult to read once printed, let us know and we will endeavor to send you a copy saved at a higher resolution.

Wool Ply and Tension Testing

The wool in most of our patterns is now unavailable.  Where possible we have tagged the garment with the wool ply but we cannot guarantee that the garment will knit up the same with a different yarn.

It is important to knit a tension swatch before starting your garment, this is doubly so if using a substitute yarn.  Here is a link to a Learn to Knit site that explains how to knit a tension swatch – Happy Knitting.
